Drop-In Service and Membership Activities
We provide drop-in information, referrals and know-your-rights counseling on a wide range of issues. We also help citizens register to vote, provide electoral information, and help Chinese immigrants process their proof of living document to receive retirement benefits from China. Membership activities include a drop-in “tea time,” field trips and social gatherings, as well as a variety of educational workshops and activities to promote US-China friendship.
We also work with Greater Boston Legal services to provide free legal enquiry once a week for low-income constituents on the following legal matters:
- Divorce
- Employment
- Housing
- Immigration
- Social security and SSI disability
Member benefits include:
1. English conversation practice
2. Internet class
3. Help reading letters and making phone calls in English
4. Assistance filing out simple forms (max. 2 pages)
5. Receive our quarterly Chinese/English newsletter
6. Coffee hour on Tuesdays where members can socialize and learn about issues affecting our community
7. Discount on applying for proof of living certificate, ESL classes, citizenship classes, filling in N-400 form and CPA activities including picnic, banquet and Thanksgiving lunch
8. Top priority during drop-in service
Membership fees: $40 family/institution $25 individual $10 senior/student/unemployed
